Samsung lifts veil on thinnest and lightest external hard drives

by

Samsung might be a leader in the world of consumer electronics, and this means that they have a seemingly all encompassing reach when it comes to various devices that you would use – or find it useful. Well, just what are the latest models or devices that are made available from the House of Samsung? We are looking at external hard drives – not one, but two models. Their claim to fame would be, being the thinnest as well as lightest weight 4TB external hard drives in the world, now how about that?

Known as the 4TB M3 Portable and the P3 Portable external hard drives, they happen to be the first 4TB USB-powered single drive solutions that will arrive in 2.5” cases, making them extremely compact in nature that are easy to tote around. What used to be previously attainable only in desktop or bulky multi-drive internal designs, Samsung’s engineers have been successful in achieving a 4TB capacity in a compact drive form factor, courtesy of their latest Samsung HDD technology.

Taking the route of a single drive solution, Samsung is capable of powering the drive through a USB connection, as it is fitted into a case that remains just a 1/10 of an inch thicker compared to a regular 2TB drive. In other words, they are the ideal lightweight drives for notebook computer owners who require access to media collections that are too large to fit on traditional internal storage options

The 4TB Samsung M3 Portable and the Samsung P3 Portable drives will measure 0.78” thin and tip the scales at a mere 8.3 ounces, where it operates at USB 3.0 speeds without requiring any kind of external power supply. Those who are interested will be able to pick up the Samsung 4TB M3 and MP Portable hard drives some time later this month, although pricing details have yet to be determined.
