Vuzix iWear brings immersion to a whole new level
Earlier this year, we were exposed to the all new Vuzix iWear 720 that claimed to come with a slew of features that will change the way we look at mobile entertainment headsets, although no pricing details or availability dates were mentioned. It looks like that is all set to change now, as Vuzix has officially kicked off pre-order sales for their new high-definition iWear video headphones.
This new pair of Vuzix iWear video headphones happen to be the ultimate mobile video entertainment and gaming system – and how is that made possible? For starters, it will play nice with just about any device that is capable of supporting HDMI output. Throw in the likes of integrated motion tracking, OSVR, Unity 3D, and Unreal gaming engine support, in addition to a fast growing list of games and VR title support, and you have got yourself a Virtual Boy on steroids – hopefully it will not take the same route in terms of sales figures though.
As for the hardware that is found on the Vuzix iWear, we are looking at dual HD Displays and revolutionary nano optics that are capable of delivering the equivalent experience of a 130” home television from 10’. Apart from that, the wearer would also be able to play games, interact with apps, and watch 2D, 3D and 360° VR movies. The Vuzix iWear is fully portable and battery-driven, letting you enjoy it in the comfort of your own home, or perhaps to play with it while you are on holiday.
It will support just about any HDMI 2D or 3D video sources that include PCs, game consoles, smartphones, Blu-ray players, and Wi-Fi wireless dongles for direct Internet connection. The iWear will also boast of virtual reality tracking sensors, and it sports optional 3D augmented reality cameras with “point-cloud” tracking capability in order to deliver an exciting AR experience. Your ears will also appreciate the 40mm drivers which happen to be noise isolating in order to deliver a complete high-end audio experience during game play to the user.
A special pre-order price of $449.99 will be applied to the Vuzix iWear, and delivery is set to kick off later this fall.
