The Light Phone – disconnect while staying connected
It’s hard to unplug from life online. The only brief respites we get from the constant string of notifications is when our phones start acting up and have to be shut off for a bit. There are times where you only want to answer calls and let the rest fall away, but we’re not going to go through the trouble of turning off all of our notifications for fear that we’ll forget to turn them back on and miss something important.
If your life is so fast-paced that you need a phone which only does calls, the Light Phone will make your day. This is a credit-card sized phone that is designed to only take and receive calls, and nothing else. It’s as thick as a stack of credit cards, and has a battery that can last for up to 20 days. The main feature is speed dial, and nothing otherwise so you won’t be tempted to dive into social media. It is connected to your actual phone, but you can leave the real deal at home since it will forward calls to the Light Phone.
This would be an ideal first phone for kids, and would help for peace of mind to those who have a hard time being away from their phone. There’s a slot for a SIM card, and it charges via MicroUSB. There are volume buttons, but it doesn’t seem to have a dimmer, which means the keys will be super bright, day or night. This is currently a crowdfunding campaign, and those who are interested in supporting it will be looking at paying $100 to get one.
