LG Watch Urbane merges a classic look with modern day features
You do not have a second chance to make the first impression, or so we are told. Hence, it is nice to know that the folks over at LG Electronics (aka LG) of South Korea has decided to go all out in making sure that their very first Android Wear device would be one that oozes with luxury. I am talking about the LG Watch Urbane, which is LG’s maiden foray into the luxury smartwatch world, sporting an all-metal, luxury look that is all set to debut at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 which is happening early next month.
The name of this particular piece of wearable tech says it all – it has been designed to target the sophisticated and cosmopolitan wearer, where it will be able to deliver unparalleled technology alongside performance. LG Watch Urbane would be the perfect timepiece for those who are tired of their regular analogue watches, and would like to see the introduction of not only style, but also high-tech flair.
The LG Watch Urbane is not the first smartwatch from the company, but it is the first luxury smartwatch, and yet it does follow closely in the footsteps of the LG G Watch R, which so happens to be the first smartwatch with a full circular Plastic OLED (P-OLED) display that was introduced to the masses in October last year. The LG Watch Urbane, however, is a whole lot more formal since it sports a thinner profile that makes it ideal for either gender.
Expect it to carry a similar 1.3-inch full circle P-OLED display as found in the LG G Watch R, although you would have a more narrow bezel that sports sleeker lines. Bearing all of the hallmarks of a fine watch, it is the perfect fashion accessory with a stainless steel body that arrives in polished silver and gold finish, being complemented by a beautifully stitched natural leather strap that delivers a more classic look.
This Android Wear device will sport a photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor which is able to measure a wearer’s heart rate and average pulse during exercise, too.
