Rachio launches Iro Smart Sprinkler Controller

by

Are all sprinkler systems created equal? Apparently not, as Rachio can testify with their latest release which is known as the Rachio Iro Smart Sprinkler Controller. Having been launched across various Home Depot locations throughout the US, this Wi-Fi connected device will function as the “brain” of a landscape irrigation system, where it is smart enough to make the necessary adjustments to various weather conditions automatically, as well as keeping track of the seasons to utilize water as sparingly as possible without sacrificing on the beauty of your lawn.

There will be an iOS and Android app that will keep the Iro going, resulting in you the user, to create a watering schedule based on location, as it is smart enough to take into account regional characteristics and restrictions. This will also include adjusting watering patterns that will hopefully be able to best meet the needs of various soil types and adapting to unpredictable weather.

Not only that, Iro has the ability to learn and adjust itself automatically to its environment, helping address the country’s growing outdoor water waste issue. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) figured out that approximately 50% of the 7.8 billion gallons of water that is used daily for landscape irrigation literally goes down the drain, wasted. Iro hopes to make sure that our environment does not get abused any longer, helping users to reduce their impact and track usage over time.

It takes but a moment to install Iro, where all you need to do is to unplug the previous controller, detach the low voltage zone wires and remove it from the wall. This is followed by mounting the smart controller to the wall before hooking up the low voltage zone wires, plugging it in afterwards. Synchronization will then be done via the Rachio smartphone app to the Iro. Those who are interested will be able to check out the Iro Smart Sprinkler Controller for $249 a pop.
