DICE+ brings new life to an old toy
You know what they say – if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. The thing is, some of us would like to think that the wheel needs to be reinvented, despite the fact that it has been serving us well all these years. Good thing the humble dice, that has seen it win fortunes and lose it all for some over the centuries, has received a 21st century update in the form of the £34.99 DICE+.
Most of the classic board games that we know of, including Risk, Monopoly, Snakes and Ladders, and even The Game of Life, will require at least one dice to get it going. These dice can be made out of plastic, or in some older cases, wood, but they are just that – six sided squares with the numbers 1 to 6 etched on different sides. The DICE+, however, claims to deliver much-needed human interaction to electronic board games, where it will play nice with majority of the Bluetooth-enabled devices out there, while sporting a battery that can last for up to 20 hours on the trot.
The DICE+ will boast of LED back-lighting, an accelerometer, Bluetooth connectivity and a rechargeable battery which will even come with a handy anti-cheating algorithm so that your opponents can no longer roll constant 6s.
