Is your need to create so great that you can’t stand the thought of being away from your supplies? It’s always best to work at home where all of your tools and equipment are readily available, but that doesn’t always suit your situation. Going on the road and not being able to work on projects can be very frustrating, which is why having portable versions of gear is so helpful.
There are a multitude of 3D printers on the market now, but how many of them could you put in your bag and walk off without feeling over-encumbered? The Lumifold is a DIY 3D printing setup that will allow you to print small parts, toys, or whatever may suit your fancy out of a photo-initiated polymer resin. You do need to have all your ducks in a row to be able to use this quickly and efficiently, but the hardest part will be getting a projector.
Thankfully, they do have an overhead projector in the works to go with this setup, and it is said to cost half than a normal projector. The whole setup with the Lumifold, USB cable, resin basins (which are actually not necessary as you can use a plastic coffee cup), interchangeable tray, and the software will all cost you around $390-400. Of course, you will need to get a hold of resin and the projector still, but it’s a pretty sweet setup. Check out this video to see how it works.
