SVS Ultra Bookshelf Speakers

Here we are with something that you might want to consider when it comes to upgrading your living room – a decent pair of speakers, which will definitely outdo whatever Hi-Fi system that you purchased in the past. There should be nothing quite like a great pair of speakers, and this is where the Ultra Bookshelf Speakers from SVS come in handy, with SVS being a worldwide leader in high-performance home audio products.

As you can see for yourself in the image above, the Ultra Bookshelf Speakers come handsomely styled, complete with a swept back profile as well as striking edge treatments, where it draws design cues from the flagship Ultra Tower speaker while sporting sonic-enhancing wedge-shaped front baffle and flush-mounted drivers, accompanied by proprietary SVS drivers and the intelligent SoundMatch Crossover Network.

SVS envisioned a two-way monitor when engineering the Ultra Bookshelf speaker’s design, hoping for it to fill small to medium–sized rooms with an encompassing, coherent soundstage, in addition to churning out deep, dynamic bass; and sparkling mid and high-frequency details, regardless of whether they were being pushed to extreme volumes or played at moderate levels. Using a clever combination of premium build materials, FEA optimization, cabinet innovation and careful selection of crossover frequencies, has managed to make the Ultra Bookshelf Speakers possible.

In order to deliver low to midrange-frequency performance, the Ultra Bookshelf will boast of a hefty 6.5-inch composite glass-fiber cone woofer that is capable of pumping out an excellent stiffness to mass ratio for high sensitivity, while maintaining pistonic behavior that is well beyond the pass-band of the driver. The Ultra Bookshelves will also be equipped with SVS’ SoundMatch two-way crossover network, in addition to premium-grade capacitors, air-core inductors and heavy-trace printed circuit boards that function in harmony, making sure that pure signal transmission and radiation is achieved to hit a generous sweet spot.

The Ultra Bookshelf speakers from SVS will tip the scales at 19 lbs. each, and will come in premium-grade piano gloss black and real black oak veneer finishes, retailing for $499 each.

OK – so at least these look like real speakers. That’s a start, but given how little technical info there is on their site it makes you wonder if these are another Chinese made speaker that looks good from a distance but sounds distinctly average, to put it politely. Compare their site to the likes of Moos Audio, who are clearly proud of all the aspects of their speakers (rightly so too – they look insanely awesome!)
