Gadgets: Now a Harm to Our Neck?

Face it, our age of computers and smartphones and tablets is convenient, but it sure is not good for our posture. Ergonomic methods of sitting at a computer or using a device certainly exist. Yet most of us continue to hunch over our electronics as if that will help us be more productive.  The classic ‘evolution’ picture (above) is definitely true in this day and age.

Now the impacts of our mobile phones are taking its toll. First the ‘texter thumb’ reared its head. The latest issue appears to be our necks. Craning our necks to stare down at phones and tablets is now taking a toll on one of the most important parts of our body. SFLuxe.com spoke to an Orthopaedic surgeon about what he sees. And he agrees – users should take action daily, including exercising and stretching the neck. They also offer a list of simple steps you can take to prevent permanent issues.

Not yet Alison, but its true that more and more we are becoming dependent on technology, its good for our work but not for health. Many people are facing neck problems due to excessive use of computer and laptops.
