Vertical Chess Set designed for long games

by Mark R

I don’t know about you, but something like this just screams “gift item” to me, and I don’t even know anyone who is really into chess. Perhaps it is just Black Friday getting to me.

Yes, this Vertical Chess Set is even cooler than those Tri-level chess sets that you used to see on Star Trek, the original series. As you can see, it takes chess off the table and onto the wall, with a nicely decorated frame as an added plus.

This comes in handy for situations when extended games are played. Now you don’t have to worry about someone stumbling and knocking over your pieces, as each one is on safely on the picture frame on eight transparent acrylic shelves.

As for the board, it is made of cherry veneer. The black pieces are made from rosewood and the white pieces are from boxwood.

You might not be able to tell from the picture, but the Vertical Chess Set has a “last move” marker. For those who are master strategists and carry on games for weeks or even months, their world is about to get a lot more interesting.

You should be able to pick this Vertical Chess Set on the Hammacher Schlemmer site for a price of $299.99.
