inPerson HD webcam from CreativeLive!

The last time that I saw inPerson from Creative, it looked more like a laptop than a webcam, but it was a bold step toward telepresence technology.
Creative has recently announced that their Creative Live! Cam in Person HD meets “the exacting requirements for HD video calling in Skype”. The inPerson HD has H.264 video encoding processor so the user doesn’t need to have a high-performance CPU to receive a high-quality Skype HD video quality experience.
The iPerson HD also has a new “quad mic array” with the microphones precisely spaced along the nine-inch flat-panel surface of the camera. The inPerson HD also has some noise-canceling technology that removes ambient noise more effectively than other webcams.
This adds up to no choppy video, which is usually caused by when the PC can’t handle the encoding fast enough. Considering how webcams used to give us images that looked like the frame-rate of Max Headroom, I fully welcome this change.
Also included in the inPerson HD package is a bundled Live! Central 3 software suite with “advanced video and audio effects, avatar creation, movie creation, desktop sharing features and surveillance capabilities”. Of course, all this high quality features do cost a lot, and the inPerson HD costs about $149.99.
