Hercules flexes muscles with eCAFE netbooks

by

Just when you thought that the netbook scene is dying out because of the onslaught of tablets, along comes Hercules to save the day. We’re talking about the eCAFE netbooks that come in 10″ designs, where the two will be known as the eCAFÉ Slim HD and the eCAFÉ EX HD, with the former being one of the smallest in its class while the latter is touted to offer one of the best battery life on the market.

The new eCAFÉ netbooks are pretty happy to be different from the rest of the crowd, and we will explain to you why. For example, the Slim HD model will come with a 10-inch display as well as all the relevant connectivity options (a trio of USB ports, an Ethernet port, headphone and microphone connectors and a card reader), all crammed into a 0.8″ thin form factor that tips the scales at a mere 1.9 lbs.

As for the EX HD model, it will come with a whopping 13 hours of battery life in real use conditions, although that remains to be seen as the figure will surely differ from one user to another, since each of us have different usage patterns. Apart from that, you can also view your videos on a flat screen TV in your living room courtesy of an HDMI port as well as multimedia touch controls. Not only that, it will measure at 1.1” thin while weighing 2.4 lbs. to make it one of the slimmest models on the market.

These netbooks won’t be gimped the moment they are pulled out from the box – no sir, you will find them bundled with essential applications such as a full office suite (compatible with Microsoft Office), an audio player and music management, a video player compatible with most formats and even an instant messaging system that plays nice with Windows Live, Yahoo, AIM and Google Talk, among others.

The eCAFÉ Slim HD and eCAFÉ EX HD will retail for $229 and $269, respectively.
