Sega Toys Tokyo Sky Tree Indoor Planetarium
by Mark R
There is nothing like a starry night, but if you can put the beauty of the celestial heavens indoors, there’s a way to do that.
We have reported on a lot of indoor Planetariums before, such as the Death Star Planetarium. This particular is the Homestar Aqua Tokyo Sky Tree, and like the Star Wars themed one, this shows more than just the stars.
Actually, the Death Star Planetarium showed a fake universe with labeled planets, but this particular planetarium shows real constellations like Orion and the Big Dipper. In addition to the stars, it also shows the Tokyo Sky Tree, one of the tallest buildings in the world at 634 meters.
This Homestar Aqua Tokyo Sky Tree is from Sega Toys, and the planetarium in a can has the dimensions of 85 x 87 x 118mm and it works for about 3 hours on four AAA batteries. The projection is about 1.8 meters in diameter, which is enough to cover most of your ceiling. Hopefully, you do go out and look at the actual stars, and don’t depend on these planetariums as your only astronomical experience.
The Homestar Aqua Tokyo Sky Tree is on sale in Japan on April 2, but I don’t know the price. I have heard that only 6,340 are going to be made, so the price might be a little “up there”.
