Solar Power Auto Cooler

by Ally

Although you can’t exactly switch your entire world of gadgets into solar-powered ones, you can certainly take care of the smaller gadgets.  Having some sort of a fan to keep you cool when you’re not in the mood for air conditioning requires you to use more power from your car.  However, if you picked up this Solar Power Auto Cooler you could easily handle taking some edge off of that heat.

You might not use it in place of your air conditioning all of the time, but sometimes that cold air isn’t necessary.  For those times when you just want air flow this would work a whole lot better.  Plus it’s the perfect solution for pet owners that sometimes leave their dog in the car for short periods.  This isn’t the first solar fan for your car that’s been released, but it’s a whole lot cheaper than previous models.  You can pick up one of these for £12.95 or about $21 through the Ethical Superstore.

Those things have been around for a while; I’ve seen them on TV infomercials for years. They’re also crap. I bought one to use and despite it being a bright sunny day close to noon in Southern California, the solar cell was so poor unless I pointed it directly at the sun the fan wouldn’t spin. (and even when I did it only barely moved). It was a waste of $20. The concept is great, the implementation ruins it.

This gadget is actually a piece of crap. I had bought one a few years ago. It was for my Saturn and I had it set up to keep my car cool, well it doesn’t do the job. The fan is underpowered and barely made the interior cooler on a hot day. The rubber wedge that allow you to provide a seal around where the unit meets up with the rest of the window to provide a protection against rain or other weather problems didn’t work either. It would fall out or not even stay on.

I am so much astonished to see this gadget.Having some sort of a fan to keep you cool when you’re not in the mood for air conditioning requires you to use more power from your car.
