Playstation 3 DualShock 3 Wireless Controller in pretty pink

by Ally

I know that pink is the stereotypical color gadget makers flock towards when they’re looking to make a girl gadget, but you still can’t help but love a few of the gadgets.  Well now you can even play your favorite PS3 games with a bright pink DualShock 3 Wireless Controller.  Sure, you’ll catch a little grief from any male competitors, but you can’t help but enjoy beating them with a pink controller.

I really like that gadget makers are seeming to understand that it’s nice to have more than one color option.  Sure, most computer cases, monitors and gaming consoles stay in neutral colors, but at least the accessories are getting a bright coat of paint every now and then.  These pink controllers are already hitting online and are listed for $55 a piece.  They’re supposed to actually become available on September 21st.

Seriously! How many gamers are actually girls? Guys out number girls when it comes to being hardcore gamers. Your not going to see girls flocking to stores to get their “pink” controller for their gaming system lmfao! Sure maybe a handful but if I was the company, I would simply make removable controller covers so that way the people have the option to buy regular controllers and buy that cover separately to not waste money creating an entire controller hoping tons of females will buy them.

Lets be real okay… 1 out of 200 girls might, might be a gamer. That ratio alone is enough to say, okay lets just make removable covers and let the art department go wild in creating tons of designs. You don’t see car factories dishing out pink cars left and right- why not? Eggsactly!

Okay kids, the problem with this little gadget right here has absolutely ZERO to do with the dearth of female gamers that people seem to think exists. Really, 1 in 200? No.

The problem is that turning controllers pink solely to appeal to a female audience is frankly offensive, and implies all over that woman must be catered to in a shallow manner to have any interest in gaming. What’s next, sparkles and tiny little pictures of shoes? Sure, some womanfolk enjoy pink and would adore using a quaint little pink controller. But I don’t see stereotypical ~man designs coming out, just because some men would use them.

Repeat after me, kids: the default of the human race is not male.

Bear in mind that this is the color, not the design. I guess the stereotypical man color would be black?
