UFO Lamps complete with abducted animal

by Ally

Although these just look like interesting little UFO table lamps, they’re actually much much larger than a table lamp.  In reality these things measure a whopping 5 feet and 5 inches tall.  Which makes it all the more fun since hidden within that massive beam of light is a poor creature being slowly pulled up to the alien spaceship.  It just gets tugged up and down time and time again, with no way to escape that glowing light.

The lamp is supposed to be featured at the 2010 Maker Faire that will begin on May 12th.  In order to create it, the person used recycled glass tubes, light diffusers and acrylic rings.  Within that tube it holds 10 gallons of water.  That water uses a 110 volt 20 gallon air pump that creates the bubbles.  Those bubbles then carry the trapped cow up and down.  The lamp doesn’t use just one form of lighting, it uses CFLs, LEDs and even halogens.  Right now all you can really do is drool over the pictures, since these aren’t exactly up for purchase just yet.

Those would look pretty cool in a space themed home theater. They would make great entry lights or wall sconces if they can be dimmed.

If I hadn’t seen the description I’d never have known what it was supposed to be depicting. I suppose the cow sloshing around might be a clue when seen in person. Poor little cow. Sniff sniff.

This is so psychedelic. It’s a bit much for my taste, but it’s a fantastic piece for the right college setting.

Thanks for pinging for clarification. My intention was to say that Mountain View was on fire in July, but if you’re looking to put your home on the market *today*, you should be careful about your number because buyers are more uncertain now.

(Just like higher numbers at the pump, people will get used to the higher percentages. It’ll take some getting used to though.)

The line I would emphasize to them is, “Sellers are confident because of this disparity [ed. low CDOM number], but we’re moving into a slower part of the Silicon Valley market cycle in a period of uncertainty with mortgages.”

I’ll update the first line to make it more clear and I’m going to add a comma between “cycle” and “in” in the last sentence because there are two separate ideas there.

Cheers,
Steve
