Contigo Autoseal Bottles

Ever tried to drink a beverage while you’re in a moving car? That can be quite a feat to perform without spilling a drop eh, not to mention running the risk of the beverage leaking due to dodgy screwtops and ill-fitting lids, but those could be a thing of the past with the Contigo Autoseal Bottles that has a wide range of 100% leak-proof travel mugs, water bottles and kids’ cups. What makes Contigo Autoseal Bottles so special? Well, they’re BPA-free and utilize the patented Autoseal push ‘n’ sip lid system, which “automatically seals between glugs, making Contigos 100% spill-proof and 100% leak-proof”. To get a sip of your favorite beverage, just press the button to sip then release it to reseal the bottle instantly. Depending on the type of container you use, it will retail anywhere from £16.99 to £24.99.

These drink containers/coffee travel mugs are definitely leak proof. We’ve had ours for ages.
I love them but do not like that we are unable to get at all the parts thoroughly to clean them.

After developing moldy looking bits that were unaccessible, even after using pipe cleaners and small brushes to get at them, my husband the clean freak took apart one of the lids for our daughter’s Contigo autoseal kids bottles. It had mold growing in the inner parts and the mouth spout area.

While I thoroughly love this product, I would highly recommend it for WATER only. I would also recommend occasional immersion in bleach to ensure that mold development is kept in check.

I am certain that my coffee mug has the same issue but I have not had the heart to take it apart yet as it would certainly be destroyed as our child container lid has been.

I agree with the above statement. We have had 3 for our daughter where we had to actually throw them away due to mold. Mine i have ONLY used for water and it is still getting grimy by the mouth area and I do not have the heart to throw away a great cup. My husband works construction and this cup has been through it all with him ( including coffee) and still dosent look horrible. I would reccomend these cups to anyone, but either they need to change out your cup yearly or find a way to clean it correctly.

I agree, the mold issue is absolutely gross. I had been loving this cup using it for coffee on my morning commute in the car. I have been using it for 11 months, hand washing it daily and dishwasher cleaning once a week. I hadn’t actually inspected up inside the inner parts of the lid until today and was horrified at the amount of black mold that had actually solidified into a ring. I soaked the lid all day and scrubed with a toothbrush and still was unable to get all the mold. I have had a cold for several weeks that I have been unable to shake and after seeing this moldly lid I have been drinking from, I am beginning to wonder if it’s a fungal infection. Will be throwing this cup out – GROSS!

FYI to got a little mold inside my lid and in my bottle. The black spots here in I only used it for water as well. Here’s a simple thing that a little bit of bleach in the bottom of the bottle a little baking soda very hot water.. And shake the bottle upside down shake it up and down. Let it sit immediately the bleach makes the mold come out of the plastic. Then what I did was I turned it upside down so lid is on the counter and I leave it like that for about an hour. Then I rinse it out and use your soapy water to clean it. Then rinse it by running hot water through it tippet upside down over the sink and let the hot water run out of the Mouth spout to rinse out the head as well. There you go and you’ll never have mold in your head or in the bottle if you do this once every two weeks
