Sega Zone video game system coming this summer
Well, when I heard that Sega was putting out a new video game console, I had to double check to see what decade I was in.
I’m not certain why that Dreamcast never took off, and why I see Sonic the Hedgehog playing tennis with Mario on the Nintendo. I mean, if Nintendo knew what was going to happen in the early nineties, then they never would have worried about them as competition.
Apparently, this Sega Zone is actually some sort of Wii emulator that allows the players to do classic video games like Golden Axe, Sonic and Knuckles, Ecco the Dolphin, and 30 other games.
The Sega Zone doesn’t come with the classic Genesis controllers with the A, B, and C keys, but two motion controllers. These motion controllers are good for 16 out of the 30 included classic Sega games.
The company plans to put even more classic Sega games in the future. As I mentioned before, this will be available this summer, and the price will be around £50.
Of course, I have heard that there is already some sort of emulator for the iPhone that will allow a user to play old Sega games like Sonic the Hedgehog. It is called the Ultimate Genesis Collection for the iPhone. This emulator is free, but the games are $3 each. Make your own decision on what is the best value for you.

Way too pricey. iv heard of people emulating sega genesis(mega drive) n64 super nes and mame roms all off one xbox. And they didn’t pay anything for them. I know this is illigal but this just shows that 50p or $3 a game for iPhone is so expensive. I’m currently running a n64 emulator off my iPhone and so long as u own the games, u can download the roms and it plays most games impresivley.

Looks like a last minute entry into the seventh generation war. We’ll probably get something better from sega once Nitendo, Sony, and Microsoft put out their new consoles

What competition and interest these four have indulged us with. This is where competition is at its best for the consumer. The challenge for me though is keeping up with the order and timing of each release. Go Sega, you can stay in the game; your history is set.

does anyone know if the sega video console took off? I can’t imagine with the likes of PS3 and now the new xbox live enhancements, sega has any chance. If they do, it might be just a small market share. Curious to learn more about whether Sega’s new console is a success.

I used to have a dreamcast and I was one of the only ones at school with one, I am also surprised that it never took off. I think they should just team up Nintendo and bring out a Sega channel on the wii. I know you can download roms on the wii for old school games but I am not sure if they have many Sega games, I know they have Alex the Kid and Streets of Rage.

I am surely going to buy one, well, mostly because of nostalgia.
But even now, in the 8th generation of video games, the old mega drive games are still very exciting.
