Samsung unveils SL630 digital camera

Samsung seems to be making progress in other consumer electronics departments after making a name for itself in terms of cellphones and home appliances, with digital cameras being their next logical step. You won’t find any noteworthy digital SLRs from the Korean giant as yet though, as the company seems poised to concentrate on compact digital cameras at the moment, and they have been doing a pretty fine job to date. Recently, Samsung has just announced its latest addition to the digital camera stable – the SL630 model which will boast Dual Image Stabilization and Smart Auto to get you started right out of the box.
This is a 12.2-megapixel point-and-shoot device that will offer much bang for your ever depreciating buck, where it features a versatile 28mm wide-angle, 5x optical zoom lens, coupled with the aforementioned Dual Image Stabilization and Samsung’s entire range of smart features. Not only that, Samsung has managed to cram in everything into a relatively slim and compact frame that makes it a snap to tote around without growing your biceps at an alarming rate. Its specially concocted Dual Image Stabilization (IS) technology enables one to capture crystal-clear images simply by combining both Optical and Digital Image stabilizers so that sharp images are the only possible end result. Folks with trembling hands (due to taking a snapshot of a really hot chick or having shaky nerves naturally) will find that its Optical IS is intelligent enough to make the necessary compensation by shifting the lens in the opposite direction. Just in case you’re in the middle of a tremor and Optical IS isn’t good enough, Digital IS will kick in automatically for a virtually blur-free image.
Other automatic controls on the SL630 include advanced scene recognition technology that will make the necessary adjustments to color, brightness, motion and subject before snapping a photo for the best possible results. You can also record video with your SL630, where you get a 640 x 480 resolution recording at 30 frames-per-second. No word on pricing, but the Samsung SL630 is tipped for a March release this Spring.

It made me smile to see my cam here
This is actually a great digicam. It does what I expect it to do — that is, to document LIFE! That’s pretty much it. It’s so convenient and easy to use, anyone can just whip it out from a bag and start shooting at once.

Sounds like a pretty awesome gadget. I’m a certified Nikon and Canon fanatic — although this is primarily due to lack of substantial knowledge about cameras … I just assume that those brands stand for quality and reliability. But this Samsung has me thinking twice now …

We have a Samsung and a Canon digicam. We love taking these along with us for family trips. They do the job almost as well in times when it would be too inconvenient — and risky — to tag along our Nikon DSRL. Digicams are great ways to capture special moments anywhere, anytime!

It’s amazing how Korean brands are now making their own definite marks in their specific industries these days. Hyundai, for instance, continues to produce better automobiles. LG is another brand that has been making milestones. And Samsung, one cannot deny that they are becoming more and more competitive.

Good point, Sandra! Samsung used to be known only for their TVs. Hyundai used to produce cars that did not even seem fit for riding safely in. It’s great how stiff competition can help develop top of the line items.
