It's clever, but it's like leaving a cell-phone charger plugged in 24/7 drawing power continually. True, the power may be small when not charging a device, but this is at a huge sacrifice. According to tthe European Commission, cell phoen chargers (which this is similar to): "...are so inefficient that, if nothing is done, then by 2020 devices in the European Union will be wasting enough electricity to power the whole of Lithuania, which has a population almost 3.5 million."
