The Greens have created a lot of misinformation about power consumption of consumer electronics, in particular cell phone chargers. Anyway, what I would like to see is a GFCI model - GFCIs are being required in more and more places, including in the bathroom, where I like to leave my phone charging at night.

David Block.
I'd suggest you do your research before you yap about that.
I quote:
"Please also note that the USB ports only draw power when something is physically connected to the port. We didn't want a vampire port that continually sucks and wastes power when not in use so this was one of the features on the top of our priority list during the design phase."

What a horribly wasteful idea. It's clever, but it's like leaving a cell-phone charger plugged in 24/7 drawing power continually. True, the power may be small when not charging a device, but this is at a huge sacrifice. According to tthe European Commission, cell phoen chargers (which this is similar to):
"...are so inefficient that, if nothing is done, then by 2020 devices in the European Union will be wasting enough electricity to power the whole of Lithuania, which has a population almost 3.5 million."
