The Inflatable Chimney Pillow blocks cold drafts from coming down the chimney

I really love it when people use out of the box thinking to save the planet. You don’t really need to create draconian laws or appeal to people’s fears by creating crisis after crisis. All one needs to do is appeal to everyone’s number one barometer … their pocketbook. And when it comes to conserving energy in the home, The Inflatable Chimney Pillow may do just that.

Created from a durable plastic laminate that is both air tight and tear resistant, the Inflatable Chimney Pillow can be inflated and stuffed up just about any unused chimney to block heat from escaping up the plume and cold air from drafting down the chimney. It can be deflated and stored when using the fireplace, and then re-inflated to reinstall.

Installation kit includes the Inflatable Chimney Pillow, inflation tube, and a reminder card which can be placed on the fireplace mantle to remind the homeowner to remove the pillow before starting a fire.

No word on availability or price, but you gotta love the out of the box thinking ….

These are great simple devices, and they’ve been around for a while now. They cost around £20 each, and come in a range of sizes.

However, you’ll achieve the same result by just boarding up your chimney (assuming you don’t use your fireplace).
