WORLD’S FIRST SOY TONER CARTRIDGE
TO BE ALL-AMERICAN MADE
Timetable set for additional models and soy-based inkjets

Standish, Maine October 20,2009

As the one year mark for the world’s first soy-derived toner cartridge approaches, SoyPrint™ announced today the single remaining foreign manufacturing portion will be brought home to the United States before the end of the year. SoyPrint also announced it is forming licensing agreements worldwide for its cartridges and its toner.

“While waiting for development of a thoroughly soy-based toner, we were forced to go outside of the country to secure the actual toner powder for our U.S.-assembled laser cartridges”, reports Rick Greenlaw, Vice President. He reported this presented problems with documenting bio-content due to the lack of protection for intellectual properties overseas. “Our next version will have full documentation that it is 35-39% soy-based. This is the highest percentage possible in any toner.” Greenlaw said. He went on to report the toner resin is done and now goes on to final mixing stages.

He explained no bio-resin contains more than 60% bio material, that SoyPrint’s new version will and that one should divide the bio content figure roughly in half when computing the resulting content in the final, mixed product.

SoyPrint expects to begin using the new version in the 4th quarter when current toner inventories have been consumed. “Our toner will be US made, from US grown soybeans, and used in cartridges manufactured in the U.S. We will rely on other grains or vary the ingredients later.” Greenlaw said.

SoyPrint also announced it would be introducing a full line of soy-based inkjet cartridges in the 4th quarter, as well as expanding its laser toner models to as many as 48 from the current 26.
