The PhotoSketch will be a fun trick. It gets my vote this week!

msspurlock Says: October 9, 2009 at 11:04 am

There are three or four really great items in there, but I have been looking for something like the Safe Slice since I was old enough to enjoy cooking. I’m fairly expert with a knife, but why take chances?

jack Says: October 9, 2009 at 11:39 am

While the safe slice could be a boon to the disabled, I voted for the amphibious car, because they have always fascinated me.

AMiR Says: October 9, 2009 at 11:40 am

TV mirror is cool

Jay Says: October 9, 2009 at 11:52 am

A lot of cool gadgets this week. Everyone needs an amphibious vehicle.

Jabberwock Says: October 9, 2009 at 1:01 pm

PhotoSketch. I can hardly believe it really works, but if it does, it is a stunning piece of software!

ace90099 Says: October 9, 2009 at 1:06 pm

I like the Fonera router because I hope soon that someone will just make a router that can browse the internet. Cuz sometimes I want to check something that I forgot about earlier but I really don’t want to start up my PC again just to shut it back down in a few seconds. I mean some of the routers you can buy today are powerful enough to run a mobile version, if not the full thing, and small LCD screens are inexpensive the only problem left would be how to navigate but that could easily, but probably not cheaply, be solved by a touch screen.

Liz Says: October 9, 2009 at 1:15 pm

I like the mirror

Amy Says: October 9, 2009 at 1:29 pm

I know it probably makes me a dork but I have to go with the safe slice. As someone who can’t cut a bagle without cutting off a slice of finger with it, I think it seems like a great idea.

Drew Says: October 9, 2009 at 2:26 pm

The amphibious car is crazy cool.

Thyago Says: October 9, 2009 at 3:26 pm

I always wanted something like “safe slice” but the Piano Stairs rocks.

Kevin Says: October 9, 2009 at 4:39 pm

I say PhotoSketch because now anyone can easily “PhotoShop” an image together.

Angelo Carvalho Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:03 pm

The piano stairs is the best ever! I would stay hours going downstairs and upstairs to play Billie Jean =D

Twirrim Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:04 pm

Mirror TV, looks awesome :)

Shoshana Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:05 pm

The piano stairs are long overdue.

Ingrid Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:05 pm

There were more useful gadgets, but the piano stairs were the most fun. And they get people to use the stairs.

Andrew Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:06 pm

I’d have picked the watch, but after i cut up my thumb last week chopping potatoes I had to choose safe slice.

Tony Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:06 pm

Definitely the wristwatch camcorder. I’m a sucker for sneaky tech like that.

Kyle Cotter Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:06 pm

go piano stairs!!!!

Rob E Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:06 pm

The watch that is a camera is very cool, but at the same time a little creepy, internet videos. So I voted for the drumstick Pencils, I have some friends who would love that.

Dan Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:06 pm

Definitely PhotoSketch. When I first heard about it, I thought it was a hoax, but I guess I was wrong! It’s pretty amazing!

The piano stairs sound cool, but I wonder how long until it gets annoying with a bunch of people going up and down all day. ;)

Spookygirl Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:07 pm

Hard choice, several are pretty good ;) I like the TV Mirror Wall Unit!

Rhonda Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:07 pm

My vote is for PhotoSketch. I so need to try it, it looks fun!

Derek Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:07 pm

The piano stairs are great! There’s an improv everywhere built into the world! Imagine the fur Elise being played on stairs!

Victoria Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:10 pm

Piano stairs got my vote. Everything else just seems lame (what’s the fun in slicing things if there isn’t the chance of chopping off your fingers accidently?) or kinda useless (water car? really? weren’t those invented a long time ago?)
Also, piano stairs would be an awesome idea. Just don’t put them in schools. No one would ever be on time for class.

Sarah Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:11 pm

Totally the piano stairs. I bet it would be tons of fun to play with on a slow day when there weren’t too many people around… and to listen to at rush hour!

Danny Policarpo Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:14 pm

My vote has to be photosketch this is genius software online and amazing to think it’s taken this long for the public to use it, innotive creative fun and easy!

Tasha Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:15 pm

I think they had something like the piano stairs at the old science museum of minnesota… Not sure if they’ve got it at the new one.

Sidra Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:17 pm

I want to run up and down the piano stairs. Maybe add some jumping, multiple people, we could have a symphony!

DisposableHero Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:18 pm

The piano stairs are cool, the drumstick pencils do exactly what every drummer has been doing with pencils their whole lives, but as for coolest gadget, I’d have to go with the wristwatch camcorder. Who doesn’t like a gadget that is probably taken straight from a James Bond movie?

Brandon Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:24 pm

Oh how I wish I had an amphibious car. I’d freak everyone out at the lake.

Mercedes Perry Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:25 pm

Photosketch because I always wanted to make a believable photoshop

WilliamReames Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:26 pm

i think the piano stairs is amazing!!!

Katie Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:27 pm

I’m with Amy, the safe slicer gets my vote as the device most likely to make a change in my life. Maybe one day I can stop keeping band-aids in the kitchen cabinets.

JPuent Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:28 pm

The TV Mirror is something i would actually love to buy and have in my home so it gets all my votes!!! Now hook me up with free stuff!!! I never win anything!

Eric Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:29 pm

I liked the piano stairs, but the PhotoSketch won me over. What a clever idea; could be used in a multitude of ways.

Jareth Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:31 pm

I”m going Drumstick Pencils because I’m a drummer, and amused by them.

TC Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:33 pm

PIANO STAIRS!!! I WANT THEM FOR MY HOUSE

Tom Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:35 pm

I’m going to have to say the amphibious car, if for no other reason than we are one step closer to living in a Bond kind of world. Now if it only included a martini dispenser.

Dee Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:36 pm

I’m going to have to vote for the PhotoSketch

Bryan H Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:38 pm

Safe slice is cool. I am such a klutz I’ve cut my fingers several times when cutting up hot dogs for my mac & cheese. Favorite broke food. I am sure pieces of finger has ended up in my Mac & Cheese.

Day Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:40 pm

I love the PhotoSketch thing, even as an avid Photoshopper myself.

Sarah Cornell Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:40 pm

I had to go with the drumstick pencils, purely because I’m using pencils as drumsticks all the time anyway :D

Allison Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:40 pm

Who wouldn’t want to play music on the stairs like they do at FAO Schwartz in Big?

Max Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:46 pm

The mirror wall unit just because it’s frackin’ sweet!

John Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:50 pm

PhotoSketch because the technology is truly impressive and innovative.

Larry Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:55 pm

Piano stairs because it’s awesome in the fact that it can be an interesting, unique concept and extremely annoying at the same time.

Katrina Dehoyos Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:55 pm

my jaw dropped when i saw the piano stairs!!!!!! their so cool!!!!!!!!!

Spring Says: October 9, 2009 at 5:58 pm

While the amphibious car did look cool, those piano stairs are epic. How could you not vote for that? It’s like a useful version of the giant piano from BIG.

Bob Says: October 9, 2009 at 6:04 pm

I’m thinking the safe slice is pretty neat. I have a scar on my index finger from cutting vegies at a younger age. Sliced it down to the bone!

NemesisKismet Says: October 9, 2009 at 6:08 pm

Hm. Gonna have to go with the PhotoSketch. It’d be nice to be able to do cool things like that since I can’t really do photoshop and the piano stairs would get annoying after awhile. Drumstick Pencils and Safe Slice would also get my vote if I could vote more than once. XP

Doug Johnson Says: October 9, 2009 at 6:12 pm

The Piano Stairs are freaking awesome! THAT is the kind of outside-the-box thing that “Modern Art” should be—not meaningless scribbles or twisted metal that could have been made by a gorilla.

Kingdok Says: October 9, 2009 at 6:15 pm

PhotoSketch is the only one in the list that seriously made me want to get it, so it gets my vote.

Lise Says: October 9, 2009 at 6:19 pm

Piano Stairs. Safe Slice sounds useful, but Piano Stairs adds an element of fun and music. And you get exercise!

Lelio Says: October 9, 2009 at 6:23 pm

PhotoSketch would be so much fun to play with!

Karen Says: October 9, 2009 at 6:26 pm

My final choice was the video camera in the analog watch. It was a touch choice between that and PhotoSketch. The watch would be very useful for covert and non-covert activities, including catching some fun moment with the kids and pets or the outlandish outfits frequently found at WalMart.

Carrie Says: October 9, 2009 at 6:37 pm

I love the piano stairs! I wish we had those at my school it would make life so much more fun.

Robbie Says: October 9, 2009 at 6:37 pm

I don’t buy that piano stairs will instigate exercise, but the are cool.

j Says: October 9, 2009 at 6:37 pm

piano stairs FTW!

jjmcgaffey Says: October 9, 2009 at 6:43 pm

The piano stairs are neat, but I vote for PhotoSketch – that sounds absolutely wonderful! I don’t know how long it would take to make up an image, though (it goes through a _lot_ of steps to get it).

John Says: October 9, 2009 at 6:44 pm

That piano staircase is pretty awesome. I could spend hours just trying to play songs on it. Might even get a friend to try chords!

RiverTam Says: October 9, 2009 at 6:48 pm

I want to get one of those photo sketch things it’s got my vote

Bella F. Says: October 9, 2009 at 7:09 pm

love the piano stairs! reminds me of the movie BIG, and I always wanted to go to NYC to play on it…

Sinn Says: October 9, 2009 at 7:13 pm

Piano Stairs! It’s no longer exercise if it’s fun!

Heidi Says: October 9, 2009 at 7:36 pm

Piano stairs? Bah! Boring! Or else way too distracting… 60mph land and water – now that’s cool!

Caprice Says: October 9, 2009 at 7:36 pm

Gotta go with the Piano Stairs although the Python Watercar runs a close second…

Stacey Says: October 9, 2009 at 7:40 pm

I saw a video of the piano stairs yesterday and I think its great. If those were actually available I know I would take the stairs more often.

Dana Says: October 9, 2009 at 8:36 pm

Piano stairs are awesome!

Michael Says: October 9, 2009 at 9:42 pm

PhotoSketch — because it makes Jon Stewart’s job so much easier

Alex Says: October 9, 2009 at 10:21 pm

I like the safe slice. My fiancé is a clumsy girl…she needs all the safety in the kitchen she can get.

J.Carey Says: October 10, 2009 at 2:16 am

Does anybody else think the airport wii would only be an added nightmare for people who are afraid of flying? And while the piano looks very fun, that’s gotta be an accident waiting to happen. I know I’d try to actually play something, despite the odds of taking a tumble down a flight of stairs due to jumping around for the right keys.

ace90099 Says: October 10, 2009 at 3:19 am

I would have to agree with J.Carey.
The airport Wii would just makes me think “out of all the money airports and the government have the best security device they can think of is a Nintendo Wii balance board?”
and i did like the piano stairs too, until I thought about how effing annoying it would be to listen to all day if you worked in the same building as them. it’d be like running your hand back and forth on a piano all day, not something most people enjoy listening to.
but it would be interesting to hear what it sounds like when someone fell down them, and would the note keep playing if you just stood on one step, or would stop after so many seconds?

Mary R Says: October 10, 2009 at 4:35 am

Love the piano stairs! Definitely, coolest gadget of the week.

bbx Says: October 10, 2009 at 6:57 am

The watch cos I love spy gadgets!

Leslie Says: October 10, 2009 at 8:40 am

The Wii airport security looks good on paper, but in practice, stepping onto the Wii Fit board smoothly is a learned skill. I hope they don’t waste too much of my taxpayer dollars figuring that out.
Piano stairs could be irritating, especially if you have hyper pets. Or children.
Wristwatch Camcorder is soooo ’60s spy flicks. If you want to upskirt use your cellphone camera so I can catch you at it, you freak.
Safe slice… Until they build one into my Leatherman I have no use for it!
The amphibious vehicle would have been more interesting if they spelled the name Phaeton and made it fly.
Robo-Vie? General-purpose robots are so 1950’s SciFi. (No apologies to Honda here.) Either skin the f*cker to look like an actual human or remove everything but the “arm” and end effector.
For MY money, it’s got to be the Fonera router. For the price of a plain vanilla 802.11n router, this router enables wireless file storage & printing, automatically uploads from USB devices to the web, and best of all you can plug in your 3G network dongle – effectively turning yourself into a roving wireless lan party.

Leslie Says: October 10, 2009 at 8:42 am

mochamadam Says: October 10, 2009 at 8:52 am

I voted for the amphibious car. I felt that it was an engineering feat, as a lot of components go into the building of a car but this one had to be adapted to work in water as well. Perhaps not too exciting as previous cars have accomplished this, but the speed is very impressive. I also liked the TV/Mirror.

@hugosays Says: October 10, 2009 at 11:00 am

PIANO STAIRS ARE AWESOME! Now gimme $50? :D

Pashmina Says: October 10, 2009 at 11:17 am

The Piano Stairs can upgrade any place from quiet to musical, and it’s like the movie Big. How can you not love that?

Julie Says: October 10, 2009 at 11:18 am

I vote for the PhotoSketch software. It would be really handy for someone like me who can’t even draw a straight line!

BrunoTR Says: October 10, 2009 at 11:37 am

I’m working on a computer graphics master’s degree and the Photo Sketch had me actually saying “Shoot! Why didn’t I think of that!” :)

Nafeesa Says: October 10, 2009 at 11:38 am

Piano stairs! Though I’m wondering how fast that would get annoying, to be honest. If series of people are walking up the stairs consecutively, it would just be a cacophony. Nonetheless, a cool cacophony.

Joy Says: October 10, 2009 at 11:59 am

I voted for the Wristwatch Camcorder but wish it had a digital face & come in different colors. Although I’m sure it would be used by perverts & not for something good.

Krista Says: October 10, 2009 at 12:52 pm

Piano Stairs!

Reminds me of the nightingale floor in Tales of the Otori.

a.k.a. I am a book freak as well as a music freak.

Cassia Says: October 10, 2009 at 1:25 pm

Love the piano stairs, although it probably doesn’t sound that nice when a bunch of people are walking up and down them at the same time.

These drumstick pencils are a perfect present for a friend!

Ruth Ann Says: October 12, 2009 at 4:54 am

The Piano Stairs are cool. But think of the “traffic” they’d cause as every 7th grader who thinks they can play “Heart and Soul” tries to impress the masses while going and down the stairs.
