Nirvana Bathtub has built-in mood lighting

It used to be that a few candles were all someone needed to get a little mood lighting in the bath tub.  Now there are all kinds of gadgets meant to project LED stars onto the walls and ceiling to set the mood.  Well now you can go one step further to get yourself a luxurious bath that does the same.  Instead of having something floating along with you in the tub, the tub itself is what shines so brightly.  I suppose it would simplify things, plus there would be no risk of fire due to knocking over candles.

The bathtub doesn’t just feature bright sparkly lights, it also manages to use less water while still not sacrificing your own comfort.  It uses 60 percent less water than bathtubs featuring a similar sizing.  It does this by using shallow high-grade translucent acrylic shape.  To control the 360 LED lights there is a integrated system underneath the tub.  Within that control panel is also an electronic tap that will automatically fill and stop filling up your bathtub.  The Nirvana Bathtub won the Red Dot 2009 competition.  However, as of right now there isn’t a whole lot of info on purchasing, so it’s likely this is still in the design stages.

Whilst I accept that this might be a popular choice for some I still like the idea of candles and scents surrounding my bath when and if I were too have a bath. Lighting is an important factor for your home interior and exterior design, however, in the bathroom there are some fabulous wall and down lights that can be mood lit rather than a bath that is wired with electricity.

I like it – something funky for the trendy urban home. Kids would love it and parent would love the auto fill and stop fill features. I wonder when they will have more product information.

Great bath, where can you get it from? Also interested in seeing the bath using less water and wonder if this is relaxing, or is it just for style?

Yes it is a great bath, but I don’t know that it would be seen as a popular choice for a modern home. There is something a bit tacky about the lighting, perhaps if there were less lights it would make the grade.

I would imagine this bath looks quite good with water in it and the lights on, especially if it had bubbles floating on the top. Fitting 360 LED lights involves quite a lot of work so I think it will be expensive. However, because it saves on water there is every chance you will eventually get your money back.

Strange that this is not a corner bath, you would think this short of technology and features are a little wasted on a corner bath.
