The Flash Drive Lock
by Ally in PC Gadgets, USB Gadgets
Usually my flash drive has the most bland of material stored on it. There’s never anything that I really need to keep hidden. At times I really wish that I had some top secret file to hide away, but so far, no such luck. Well if you do tend to store top secret files or just want to pretend like you do, you’re going to need a way to protect those files. This Flash Drive Lock Range will make sure that the only way they can get in is through a 3-digit code.
They market this towards civil servants specifically, but I more see teenagers picking up on these than anyone else. Be it because they don’t want someone (their parents) to see what’s on their drive or just to have it to show off to classmates at school. It’s more likely more people will buy it as a novelty than as a serious contraption. The lock will work with any standard USB drive. You can purchase it for £5.95 or about $10 from The Verdict.

August 13th, 2009 at 10:34 amDoesn’t seem that secure to me. there’s only about 1000 possible combinations… if someone really wants you data, they’ll stick it in their pocket and bruteforce the lock, either by patience, or just by taking the thing apart somehow.

August 13th, 2009 at 12:49 pmI’d think they would be more likely to steal it BECAUSE of the lock on it.
“Must be sensitive enough to stop people seeing it, let’s have a look see.”
