“Antique” Sofa has a hide-a-bed style pool table built in

What a great idea. This is a sofa which as a pool table built into it hideabed style. Okay, actually, it’s a snooker table, but still. What an ideal addition to an apartment/mancave. According to Craziest Gadgets the couch is about 6 foot long and apparently, it’s quite popular in the UK where they’re fairly cheap.

Made as a joint venture from Pierce Upholsterers and Accrington and Riley – makers of fine British pool tables, and was produced in the 70′s. It’s made of a neutral brown dralon fabric and when opens it flips into a pool table with adjustable leveling feet to make it level. What a fantastic idea which was decades ahead of it’s time. It probably didn’t do too well because manufacturing it would’ve been costly without a computer/motion controlled assembly line. But with the advent of not only computers for design and manufacture, this piece could easily make a resurgence. And why stop there? Imagine a sofa with built in ping pong table, air hockey table, poker table!

As I said, this bad boy has “man cave” written all over it. Currently for bid at eBay.UK at about $200 US but it’s sure to go well north of that.

This is a crazy gadget. I can see the younger population just loving this in their playroom and or if space permits, in their bedroom.

I really like the retro fabric and for around $200.00 is quite reasonable even if used predominantly for the seating.

Very cool!

Whilst on one hand I want to yell and scream and say what a horrible piece of furniture and how could I possible play a good game of pool with it. I still quite like the material and I expect it is of reasonable quality even though it is just $200.00.

That is awesome! And it’s actually a pretty reasonable price.

Oh. OK I don’t personally like this couch pool thingy. But he who am I? I am sure many do and gee some one was creative. I must respect that! The price is right too, so if u tire of playing pool u could just sleep on the job.

Ok…who said kids would love this? I think it is more likely to be full grown married men who want one!!! I can see many marriage separations if this ever hits the high streets around the world!!

Ha! That’s a funky design that really makes me laugh. The kind of thing I’d expect Tim Taylor to come up with. There’s definitely room on the market for more of these!

Jenny Devon Says: March 31, 2011 at 1:08 am

Good for a laugh I’m sure but I can’t imagine it’s easy to play a game on this tiny table. However you have to think it would certainly be at home in a cramped ‘man cave’!
