I have mixed feelings about these. On the one hand anything that can help reduce barking and enable a pet to develop a positive habit of not barking is excellent. However on the other hand it is difficult for a humna to assess what "Harmless" means.

Another great article and idea for our noisy dogs. This is probably something that all pet owners should buy in order to manage those pets whose barking is not related to circumstance, but rather behavioral.

That's actually pretty cool, unless the dog is barking for a very important reason...

Sometimes it may seem that a dog is barking for no apparent reason, but there is always a reason. A dogs hearing is so much better than humans and they could be warning you of potential danger. The reason may be silly, but they do have a reason.

A few years go my job had me working about 3 hours from home, so I stayed in a temporary apartment during the week and usually went home for weekends. On one weekend my husband decided to bring the dogs (2 little yorkies) and stay at the apartment because we wanted to do some things locally. We left the dogs in the apartment for the day, when we returned at about 4 pm the female was so hoarse from barking all day she could barely utter anything. It was hilarious. It was a ground floor apartment and next to the exit, so I imagine she saw and heard everybody passing by and coming and going and barked at everyone. I imagine the neighbors were relieved when she started losing her voice. Yet she continued to try to bark.

[...] In certain countries, you aren’t allowed to keep dogs if you’re living in an apartment. One of the reasons is the apartment is not exactly the most conducive place for a pooch to roam around, and if the dog doesn’t learn to stop its barking, it could end up as a source of irritation to your neighbors. Why not train your four-legged friend to stay quiet unless commanded otherwise with the Indoor Barking Dog Deterrent? more.. [...]
