Re: "I would have thought that this Flash Drive would be released in tandem with the would-be successful movie sequel"

Device Label Ravage is not part of the Revenge of the Fallen line. At any given point in time, there are usually several Transformers toylines going simultaneously. This is particularly true when comparing Hasbro's (Transformers in the US and other countries) current operations to those of TakaraTomy (Transformers in Japan), although each company is also known to do multiple lines at the same time.

While Hasbro has been concentrating almost all their efforts on the movie/Revenge of the Fallen, TakaraTomy has been producing Device Label (Ravage, Cheetor and Tigatron flash drives, Grimlock and Trypticon mouses and Blaster USB hub), Disney Label (transforming Donald Duck - I'm not kidding) and Alternity (transforming 1:32 scale cars).

It is not unusual for a toyline or cartoon/show/movie to be marketed in one company's market, but not the other's (or, not at the same time). For example, Device Label is for Japan and Hasbro will probably not bring it under their umbrella - any USB Ravage you buy will be a Japanese import (which also contributes to the price). On the flip-side, TakaraTomy have not (yet) brought "Transformers Animated" to Japan, even though it has run its course in the US, and it took them a while to bring the Classics/Universe figures to Japan as "Henkei".

This is just the way Transformers, and the two partner companies in particular, operates. They work together, but they also produce their own ideas.
