The camera has a function that allows the viewfinder to stay bright even though you are stopped down to small openings. Check out a website called Camera Quest for the adapters. They cost about $175 but let you use some great film lenses on a digital camera..sort of a poor man's Leica M8! "DSLR : A digital single-lens reflex camera (digital SLR or DSLR) is a digital camera that uses a mechanical mirror system and pentaprism to direct light from the lens to an optical viewfinder on the back of the camera." (wikipedia) It's not strictly a DSLR because it lacks the reflex mirror, pentaprism and shutter curtain. This could mean that it puts the GH1 slightly outside the DSLR with video ranks and, indeed, Panasonic are careful not to list the G series as a DSLR.
