Wooden baseball bats are used in the Major leagues, because the speed of the ball off of aluminum bats is dangerous for the pitcher and that the field won’t change, so the number of hits out of the park would be highly increased.

In Speed Skating,, the skate blade design radically changed, because of the benefit, as has the composition of downhill ski’s, and the materials used to make the ski’s.

Those “skis” not the equivalent to “clap skates” in speed skating, a design that revolutionized the sport.

Those “skis” are like aluminum baseball bats. They’re fine for the unskilled and for amateurs, but at the highest levels, standard downhill skis will remain the norm, just as wooden baseball bats do in the Major Leagues.

For those like myself who think skiing should be about practice and skill, those “skis” are farcical.
