Haha lot of hate for this particular story. That said I think it deserves it, water powered stuff like this really gets my heckles up. After all it's pitched as a "save the planet" type thang, when it's just another cheaply made disposable product.

You turn it around it to access the different functions, I guess it reads your mind to set the time, why not, after all pure water powers it. Damn I want a car with fifty of these things and a water cooler tank under the hood.

A1 - suggest dismantling it with the connoisseur's tool of choice - claw hammer.

That said, we hardly read coolestgadgets because it's full of eco-friendly, green earth technology. It's for the cool gadgets it's got (sometimes).

Nah I haven't opened it, but your probably right. I wouldn't be supprised if it had a hidden battery. It was one of those unwanted Xmas presents.

Who wrote this story, a three-year old?!? "...In addition to telling the time, the Water Powered Alarm Clock can also give you a temperature reading as well..." How many times you want to use different ways to say, "Also"?

And, "...I’m not really certain how the user sets it, but I’m guessing that there are some buttons on the back, or something..." Whoa; in-depth analysis and report on that gadget man!

These goddam things are NOT WATER POWERED. A bit of dissolving metal is the power source, it gets away with this because it draws so little current. I wouldn't be surprised if it also has a small battery inside it.

A1 - have you taken it apart to see what's inside?

Eco-bullshit.

the green thing is the water battery, thats what you fill every few months with fresh water. There is extra water around the outside of the clock so when you turn the clock and stand it on it's side the water moves around activating a switch that puts it into temprature mode, the display moves so it always looks like it is upright. There are 4 modes / 4 sides to stand it on so the functions change depending on which way up it is. Can't remember what the functions are now.. mine stopped working after 3 months and yes I did remember to fill it
