Orbitwheels OB1

by Mark R in Sport, Toys

I’m not certain if I will ever be into skating again, but if I ever were looking for some new outdoor sidewalk surfing activity, I would definitely want to get a pair of Orbitwheels.

You might be looking at the Orbitwheels and think: that doesn’t look easy. Well, neither was riding a bike the first time, right? Yes, using the Orbitwheels means learning some new type of motion, as the Orbitwheeler must move their legs in a snake-like motion to get around.

I have included a five-minute YouTube video of what it is like to use the Orbitwheels, and I was amazed, yet not too surprised, that one minute of it is a series of disclaimers. I guess OSHA has been all over this product and made a list of warnings that read like the Ten Commandments.

The video shows that the Orbitwheels are able to fold up for compact storage. The footpads can pop out of the pad and store within the circular skate itself.

Clearly, the Orbitwheels’ target audience is the young people who are looking for the latest skating thrill. If this is you, or you know someone who is, then you have the perfect gift. You should be able to purchase the Orbitwheels at the Inventist website for $119.95.

Looks like a fun new way to skate, but I’m going to go out on a limb and say it won’t be as popular as skateboards because you can’t get from home to school as fast with these. On the other hand, how long till we get our first video of someone trying to go down a handrail or pipe with these?
