The SoundShelf – speakers that double as a shelf

by Ally in Audio/Video Gadgets

Most of the time you see speakers on shelves or speakers built into shelves, I think this might be the first speaker that actually is a shelf.  It’ll hold up your books or cds (for those that still own some) and still be able to play your music loud and clear.  It is still a concept design, but I wouldn’t be all that surprised to see these make it as a real product.  It seems there is never a shortage of companies looking for new looks for their speakers or any audio products for that matter.

The iPod craze has definitely made a large market for iPod accessories, which happens to include speakers.  This would be great for teens and college students to have a spot for their school books and a convenient way to play their music throughout the day.  The idea of the design was to make the speakers a part of the room by serving an actual purpose, besides playing your music.   Quite obviously they definitely succeeded.  It was designed by the Polish designers Witek Stefaniak and Anielka Zdanowicz, hopefully these speakers will get sold sometime soon.
