Neo Gramaphone

by Mark R in Audio/Video Gadgets, Conceptual Gadgets

Do you remember the Gabriel Turntable that we reported on at CES? That was some quality luxury product, but the Neo Gramaphone, while still quality, isn’t quite the same style of that record player.

Yes, the Gabriel Turntable looks like a priceless antique that would blend in well at your grandmother’s place, but the Neo Gramaphone looks like a record player that belongs in the world of Tron.

That is, if the Neo Gramaphone ever played records. If you want to hear music on the Neo Gramaphone, you need to stream it from a Bluetooth compatible device. The controls for the playback are on the surface screen, but they will vanish when the user just wants to sit back and relax.

As for the sound aspect, it has more than one speaker. The horn is merely a sub-woofer, and there are some soundmakers that you cannot see from this picture.

Needless to say, the Neo Gramaphone is still a concept from Kinkyform design. I wouldn’t call this form kinky, though. Just out of curiosity, how would you describe the style of the Neo Gramaphone? I was thinking retrofuturistic, but usually I reserve that term for stuff in movies like Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. It actually looks like some non-representative abstract art project.

Chime in with a comment if you can think of a proper adjective.
