Now that they are 18 mo. and 3 years old I can tell you it is one of the best things I have done for them. Being exhausted and cranky all the time does not make for a happy mother or a happy childhood. They know I love them. I am SO SICK of women (yes its generally other women) burdening other parents, especially new ones, with fear and manipulation. If you don't breast feed your unfit to have children. Let them cry it out well then your Hitler. Don't walk around with your baby strapped to your side or co-sleep well then just how do you live with yourself Stalin? The QUALITY of your child's life, however long it is, will NOT be determined by a nipple or a bottle. Organic or not. Co sleep or not. CIO or whatever else. Number one rule for parents: Be a student of YOUR CHILD. There is not one way or one book to follow. Being a parent and especially a first time one is hard. Damn hard and we don't need people like you putting more worry and fear into us than we already have. For those of you thinking of CIO (which we have not done yet) please know that letting your child cry does not make you neglectful. At all. Your child is not going to grow up with all kinds of emotional issue or look at you one day and say: "Remember that time you let me cry when I was 4 months old? Yeah, I never forgot that and I hate you. Now I'm going to go shoot heroin because I cant deal with life thanks to you." I'm sure most of you are so emotionally co-dependant that you cant make it through a single day without your child validating your existence in some way. I’m just going to rant here for a second. Seriously????? A friend of mine wanted this as a shower gift which is why I am posting this! Just pure sickness!! Babies don't come out the womb with a set sleep pattern so get over it!!!!!
