Here’s another option for those of you on the lookout for cheap home security while you’re away on vacation. Not a bad idea at all. Though I firmly believe a quality security system will save you all the heart ache in the long run. We continue to purchase bits and pieces and still leave the home concerned for our precious possessions.

It seems like it would be cheaper to just leave a TV on. I estimate it costs $2 over a period of a few days (but consider the fact that you will be saving on electricity anyway since you’re gone).
If the point of it is to be “green”, I highly doubt it is worth it when you weigh the environmental costs of producing one unit vs using a few extra kwh.

This is a clever little idea! However just make sure not to leave the curtains open as then anyone could just look in and see that it is not a TV but in fact a small white box! I like the concept though.
