VAX77 Foldable Keyboard

by Mark R

My wife has one of those portable keyboards that occasionally gets played. In spite of its portable nature, the keyboard has a nasty habit of taking up too much space, and I figured out a way of keeping it out of the way by crudely mounting it on the wall. Unfortunately, it isn’t really aesthetically pleasing.

Perhaps if I had the VAX77, I wouldn’t have to worry about having a portable keyboard that gets in the way. The VAX77 doesn’t solve the spacing issue by removing keys, but for the record, it only has 77 keys ( hence the name). No, the keyboard can fold in half, taking up only 23.3 inches worth of space. That is enough to put in the front seat of your car or in the airplane overhead compartment.

Features of the VAX77 include a 3.5 inch color LCD display, presumably so you can see what kind of set up you have going on. In fact, there are a lot of presets, so I would imagine there is a whole plethora of instruments and rhythms that you can access.

Other features include a MIDI in/out with USB 1.1 connections, as well as four pedal inputs. Of course, you will have to pay through the nose for this piano, as it costs about $2,450.

great idea and really hope to see it take off in some form and become more affordable due to economy of scale
