Gift Ideas for the Impossible to Buy For
We all know somebody that’s really difficult to buy for, either they’ve got everything or have no interests. So here are a few gift suggestions for those sort of people.
Screaming Monkey Slingshot – $5.99
This monkey has a secret – there are pockets in the monkey’s hands. Slip your fingers in, pull back his hind legs, and his arms will stretch to a crazy length with the magic of rubber! You can just feel the potential energy coursing through the monkey’s imaginary veins. Let fly and you will be treated to a wondrous sight. The monkey will scream with delight when jolted. So, if the launch is hard enough, you’ll get a scream of power in mid air; or if the landing is hard, you’ll get a scream of protest as gravity does its work. Or, you fling like a master, you’ll get a double-dose of monkey justice (i.e. noise).
The Screaming Monkey Slingshot is available from Think Geeky for $5.99.

Pleo Robotic Life Form – $349.99
Every red blooded geek loves robots. Which is why we were pretty bummed out when Sony discontinued their Aibo line of robotic dogs (instead we got PS3… but that’s a story for another day). And we’re only marginally interested in those radio control style robots… yep we want robots that can think and move for themselves not be some kind of fancy r/c car. So you can imagine our pleasure when we checked out Pleo. Not only does Pleo move and react autonomously, he looks just like a mini dinosaur. Pleo’s lifelike motions and realistic interactions will have you treating him like part of the family in no time.
The Pleo Robotic Life Form is available from Think Geek for $349.99.

Authentic Water Blast™ Arcade Game – $11,000
This is the same Water Blast game found at theme parks, state fairs, and arcades, complete with rapid water-shooting guns, flashing lights, lighted marquee, and arcade sounds. The game challenges up to two players to shoot streams of water at their respective bull’s-eyes. Direct hits illuminate lights on the scoreboard to show players’ progress; a victor is determined when all of a player’s lights illuminate. A barker’s voice initiates the contest, tells off-target shooters to “Aim your gun at the target,” and declares a winner with “Awesome, you won. Let’s play again.”
The Authentic Water Blast™ Arcade Game is available from Hammacher for $11,000.

Personalized Whac-A-Mole® Game – $35,000
This is the Whac-A-Mole game that can be personalized to replace the standard mole heads with molded caricatures using pictures of members of your family, past managers, boyfriends/girlfriends, or any desired combination of personalities. The game operates exactly like the ones found in amusement parks and carnivals–five mole heads pop up randomly while you attempt to bash each with a mallet for points–but this one comes in a walnut veneer cabinet (with hardwood inlays) that automatically opens and closes at the touch of a button from the included remote. When closed, the game assumes the form of a bookshelf, but when commanded to open, both halves swing open to reveal the game, complete with full-color artwork.
The Personalized Whac-A-Mole® Game is available from Hammacher for $35,000.

Whac-A-Mole personalizzato: colpisci il tuo capo! – Noantri Says: December 11, 2008 at 7:45 am
The Screaming Monkey Slingshot and the Desktop Carnivorous Plant Set will make awesome gifts! I wish I cam across your blog before the Holiday season. I love giving out unique gifts such as these. Last Christmas, I gave out head massagers to some of my friends. The massagers look like egg beaters — a bit silly, I must admit. But they can make you close your eyes and “ooh” and “aah” after just a few strokes!
