SanDisk is no stranger when it comes to USB flash drives, and this time round the company has rolled out yet another edition that boasts something its previous iterations seriously lacked – support for Apple’s Mac OS X-powered computers. This time round, SanDisk’s latest release, the SanDisk Cruzer Enterprise offers a more effective protect information on company-issued secure USB drives in Macintosh environments. More on the SanDisk Cruzer Enterprise right after the jump if you’re interested to know more.

With Apple’s Mac OS X slowly and steadily eating into Windows’ market share (haven’t you heard? The latest news reports showed that for the first time in many years, the Windows operating system (Windows XP and Vista) failed to conquer more than 90% of the operating system market worldwide, with Apple’s Mac OS X doing extremely well. After all, isn’t one man’s gain another man’s loss? SanDisk is not going to miss out on this potential uphill ride (in terms of profits and not difficulty) by releasing its SanDisk Cruzer Enterprise USB flash drive that was specially designed to meet the unique USB security, compliance and manageability needs of today’s enterprises by imposing a hardware-based USB encryption solution that enables mandatory access control on all files as protection against theft or loss of the drive. Not only is it compatible with Apple computers, it also works just fine with Microsoft Windows environments, making it an effective solution when it comes to protecting information on company-issued secure USB flash drives in organizations.

Owners can choose to initialize the device from either a Macintosh or Windows computer, retaining all the security settings regardless of which operating system you choose. Some of the features include :-

  • Log in and shut down access to the encrypted storage area
  • Change and manage passwords
  • Change contact information, language and other preferences
  • Launch online support, view current firmware and drive information

You are able to pick up the SanDisk Cruzer Enterprise in 1GB, 2GB, 4GB and 8GB capacities. It is compatible with Apple Macintosh computers powered by Mac OS X 10.4 “Tiger” and Mac OS X 10.5 “Leopard.” All files stored on the Cruzer Enterprise will rely on advanced hardware-based 256-bit AES USB encryption. Coupled with advanced password protection, it makes things very difficult for unauthorized users to access data if the drive is lost or stolen.
