EDG Business Cards have video footage

by Mark R in Audio/Video Gadgets, Electronic Gadgets, Tech News

This next device definitely falls into the category of stuff that is generally nifty. Here is the concept: imagine if you could give someone your business card, and it had video footage on it.

This is exactly what rCard multimedia has created with the EDG (pronounce it like “edge”). This business card, which is only slightly thicker than an ordinary credit card, comes with an LCD screen, speaker, and controls for video playback.

So, if you have a product that you are trying to sell, you can show it in action on the LCD screen when you give away your business cards. The giver of the card can download video footage on the card via mini-USB, and the person who takes the card can download additional PR material.

I’m sure all of you are wondering if it is worth it to make LCD cards. As it is, the EDG cards are about $17.50 to $29, so you had better be sure you have some increased business when you give one out.

However, you never know what is going to happen when technology becomes cheaper. Soon, all business cards will have video footage. So no more going to Kinko’s to print off a new set. Now you will have to make a video as well. Okay, this just got more complicated in a hurry.
