Master Lock’s iCage Locking Skin for the iPod
September 8th, 2008 by Ally in Audio/Video Gadgets, iPod gadgets
Master Lock, likely in an attempt to appeal to a new crowd is now selling cases for iPods. The cases aren’t just plain boring cases branded with the Master Lock brand name. No, they actually are created to keep your iPod safe from theft. We’ve all heard the statistics on how many iPods get stolen and many of us have at least heard of someone having it happen to them. Just slip your iPod into the case and then wrap the wire around something and lock it. Once locked the iPod can’t slip out of the case and it can’t be moved from whatever you fastened it to.
The issue I have, is what would you lock it to? I can’t think of a single instance when I’m out with my iPod and actually have something handy to lock the iPod to. I suppose I could lock it to my purse or the belt loop of my pants, but that just seems a little silly. Well hopefully if you’re in need of some added security you do have a spot you know you can lock it up. The cases will fit the iPod Classic, the 3rd Gen iPod Nano as well as the two older styles of the Nano. They will let you pick your combination, which is good for the slightly forgetful. To pick one up it will cost you $14.99 for the Nano or $19.99 for the Classic.

September 8th, 2008 at 10:50 amI can see locking it to a purse/backpack/briefcase when out. Even just to a belt loop. I have known a couple people that were…what do you call it…pod-jacked I think? One was on the bus and some kids were eying her. As she got off the bus they got off fast behind her, bumped into her, grabbed her ipod and ran. She thought she was holding it securely.

September 8th, 2008 at 1:44 pmThat is crazy to think that people jack iPods. I guess if they take your purse and backpack, whats do you do. I think this would work well for displays in Targets and stuff.
