August 1st, 2008 at 5:10 amStress Reducer Desktop Destroyer because Windows is really playing on my nerves!!! It’s a pitty I am not to move to a linux at work. Perhaps I could take the usb hub to instantly switch the os…
Ross Says:
August 1st, 2008 at 5:10 amHands down, the jet pack is the winner. Weren’t we all promised to have these readily available to us by now?
With that said, I’m seriously pondering getting the stealth switch.
Jim Says:
August 1st, 2008 at 5:15 amI know how I’m going to pay for the ‘jet’ pack – I’ll use it to fly around the neighborhood and retrieve all the frisbees stuck on roofs! :-]
Jacob Allred Says:
August 1st, 2008 at 5:38 amThe USB Stealth Switch. I’d like it better if it were setup like a deadman’s switch though, so if you left your desk, it automatically went back to work mode.
Juergen Says:
August 1st, 2008 at 5:55 amThe pizza scissors, definately. Best thing since sliced… well… pizza, really
Sam Says:
August 1st, 2008 at 6:02 amThe USB Switch gadget – if only I had one of these.
Like the fact that it completelt hides the offending site.
Nice Touch
Eric Says:
August 1st, 2008 at 6:03 amI want the RC dust mop! I have hardwood floors and an 80lb yellow lab. I need to sweep everyday!
Robert Says:
August 1st, 2008 at 6:12 amImagine 1 million people using a jet pack ! (all at the same time in one location). Funniest Home video.
Andy Says:
August 1st, 2008 at 6:55 amAs cool as a jet pack would be – the fun of flying around like James Bond is insignificant to cutting pizza slices with scissors!
Jay Says:
August 1st, 2008 at 6:55 amThe USB Stealth Switch in my book is the best actual “gadget.” Not to mention it really hit home about the whole “reading this while you’re at work….”
Crap, where is my switch when I need it!
Krysta Says:
August 1st, 2008 at 7:28 amAre you serious? Go RC Dust Mop! With this lovely gem it might actually get my husband to help clean around the house. Good thing the car isn’t colored pink…

Jen Says:
August 1st, 2008 at 8:06 amI’m sorry CG, but I realllly don’t think a jet pack qualifies as a gadget. So while it’s cool, I’m not going to vote for it since it’s so obviously in a different category from the others.
My choice is the lazy gadget. If I could just sit at my desk all day and never ever have to get up… ahh.
Ross Says:
August 1st, 2008 at 8:46 am@Jen:
gadg·et [gaj-it] -noun: a mechanical contrivance or device; any ingenious article.
I’d say a jetpack is a perfect example of a gadget. We’ve had flying cars in previous polls, why not the even-cooler jetpack?
As for the “lazy gadget” – is your desk in a pool?
Jen Says:
August 1st, 2008 at 9:02 amCounter definition: n. A small specialized mechanical or electronic device; a contrivance.
Emphasis on *small*.
Yes, of course it can be argued that a dictionary cannot convey the whole meaning, but including things like these makes the competition… well, pointless. Of course if you’ve got a hover car it will beat any run of the mill gadget, but is it fair? And, of course, since it’s CG’s contest they make the rules… but this doesn’t mean I’m supposed to shut up
As for the pool – oops, hadn’t read that detail. This makes it double cool, however: getting out of the pool would be worse than getting off my chair.
Ian Says:
August 1st, 2008 at 9:12 amIts about time they made a working jet pack. Jeez.
Debbie Says:
August 1st, 2008 at 9:18 amDue to gas prices I could really use this to get to work and back….
What a cool toy
Al Says:
August 1st, 2008 at 9:23 am@Jen: The aim of the contest is to find the coolest of the cool, we welcome, as you put it, “run of the mill gadget” but won’t turn an entry down for being too cool, thus having an unfair advantage, beside CG hasn’t won one yet
. We also try not to be sizest, cool gadgets come in all shapes and sizes and the jet pack is darn small compared to a 103″ plasma screen (which is also a gadget IMHO). Stepping off my soap box now
@Ross, well said, we wish you the very best of luck in the draw good sir
Kate Sheehy Says:
August 1st, 2008 at 10:03 amcan there be any doubt- we have waited since James Bond lifted off for our personal jet packs.
I’ll be on the look out for mine.
Jabberwock Says:
August 1st, 2008 at 10:58 amHow a jetpack can be better than a RC snack holder? I do not want to have to fly to my food – let it come to me!
Mike Constantine Says:
August 1st, 2008 at 11:06 amI think that shower thing is a good idea. I could see using that at some music fests or long weekend/beach getaways.
Ken Scott Says:
August 1st, 2008 at 11:22 amOh, you gotta go with jet pack! Everything else is just cheese in comparison. What other gadget instantly makes you the envy of everyone who sees it?
SUMMER DAVIS Says:
August 1st, 2008 at 11:18 pmI LOVE THIS!
Pizza Scissors
Pizza lovers rejoice – WHY? Because you get pizza and try to get a piece and you loose half your toppings and everyones nasty fingers on other pieces. With the scissors – it solves all the above solutions!
Saf Says:
August 2nd, 2008 at 10:56 amIt has to be the USB Stealth Switch!
What a genius idea for all those times when you checking out your favourite site during work hours and just don’t want to get caught by your boss…I’m sure it has happened to a fair few of us!
Matt Says:
August 2nd, 2008 at 1:05 pmThe Pizza Scissors are the bomb! Perfect combo of a spatula and scissors, solves all the problems at once. Very simple design and very practical. The best gadget for sure.
Heather Says:
August 2nd, 2008 at 3:08 pmHow can you not love a RC car that also cleans the floor!!! Plus, I’m sure it would be fun to use to play with our pets.
Jerry Says:
August 2nd, 2008 at 3:29 pmjet pack all the way!

I need this
Dom Says:
August 2nd, 2008 at 5:54 pmJetpack (voted) and pizza scissors tied!
Jetpack – you can fly around! Beat traffic, be the envy of everyone!
Pizza Scissors – quick convenient way to get that delicious pizza into manageable slices.
Sam Says:
August 3rd, 2008 at 5:50 amwho wouldn’t want there own jet pack. Although the price of gas would be so much worse than it is with a car.
Clay Says:
August 3rd, 2008 at 9:18 amMan! That desktop destroyer is great for reducing stress. Only downside is if you had a slow computer that didn’t work with the destroyer! That would get you twice as stressed! (Man I want the sansa fuze)
Matt Says:
August 3rd, 2008 at 3:03 pmThe Stealth Switch does it for me this week. I’d probably modify it, though, so I could slip it under the carpet outside my office. That’d save me having to be alert enough to work the foot switch by the time someone knocks at my door.
RowanFalar Says:
August 4th, 2008 at 7:47 amI think that the jet pack is the coolest thing. It reminds me of the “travelling in th future!” movie shorts shown in the movie theatre in the 1950’s. I know my hubby would love to have one.
Ms. Obal Says:
August 4th, 2008 at 9:24 pmThe Pizza Scissors are absolutely cool!!!!! These are the epitome of form and function. I really love this idea. I will be checking these out more closely and I will be adding these to my gadget folder wishlist. This gadget defintely rocks!!!!
