RC Dust Mop

New on Evil Mad Scientist is an easy DIY project that makes cleaning fun and might get your layabout kids involved in a little home maintenance. If you follow the link through to the labs then you will see how simple it is. An unprinted circuit board is attached to an inexpensive RC car and used to mount a dust mop. Then all that remains is awesome RC cleaning fun.

Hands down, the jet pack is the winner. Weren’t we all promised to have these readily available to us by now?

With that said, I’m seriously pondering getting the stealth switch.

The USB Stealth Switch. I’d like it better if it were setup like a deadman’s switch though, so if you left your desk, it automatically went back to work mode.

I’m sorry CG, but I realllly don’t think a jet pack qualifies as a gadget. So while it’s cool, I’m not going to vote for it since it’s so obviously in a different category from the others.

My choice is the lazy gadget. If I could just sit at my desk all day and never ever have to get up… ahh.

I’d say a jetpack is a perfect example of a gadget. We’ve had flying cars in previous polls, why not the even-cooler jetpack?

As for the “lazy gadget” – is your desk in a pool?

Yes, of course it can be argued that a dictionary cannot convey the whole meaning, but including things like these makes the competition… well, pointless. Of course if you’ve got a hover car it will beat any run of the mill gadget, but is it fair? And, of course, since it’s CG’s contest they make the rules… but this doesn’t mean I’m supposed to shut up

As for the pool – oops, hadn’t read that detail. This makes it double cool, however: getting out of the pool would be worse than getting off my chair.

@Jen: The aim of the contest is to find the coolest of the cool, we welcome, as you put it, “run of the mill gadget” but won’t turn an entry down for being too cool, thus having an unfair advantage, beside CG hasn’t won one yet . We also try not to be sizest, cool gadgets come in all shapes and sizes and the jet pack is darn small compared to a 103″ plasma screen (which is also a gadget IMHO). Stepping off my soap box now

The Pizza Scissors are the bomb! Perfect combo of a spatula and scissors, solves all the problems at once. Very simple design and very practical. The best gadget for sure.

Man! That desktop destroyer is great for reducing stress. Only downside is if you had a slow computer that didn’t work with the destroyer! That would get you twice as stressed! (Man I want the sansa fuze)

The Stealth Switch does it for me this week. I’d probably modify it, though, so I could slip it under the carpet outside my office. That’d save me having to be alert enough to work the foot switch by the time someone knocks at my door.

I think that the jet pack is the coolest thing. It reminds me of the “travelling in th future!” movie shorts shown in the movie theatre in the 1950’s. I know my hubby would love to have one.
