There is probably a law such as a moral one since fakes are normally made using child labor or in breach of labor law or in support of terrorist/criminal activities. So if you support this and don't check sources there is no doubt no legal requirement to be honest. I guess magazines normally check sources first to make sure they are genuine.

Hm, how does writing about a product mean that you're supporting counterfeiting? Since when are you supposed to check patents before making a review/presentation?

I don't know how much rechargeable batteries cost in the States, but around here (Romania) a set of four + charger goes for about $40, which I don't think is that much... (the batteries without the charger are half the price). And if you don't have that much money, you don't have a computer to plug the USB ones into, right? :P

@Jen: For people who don't have much money to begin with the extra cost for batteries could be disastrous.

Well, it depends what your habits are, I suppose. I'd like to have a set of normal rechargeable batteries and a set of USB ones, just in case.

Rechargeable USB? It may be great to have rechargeable usb batteries or is it? If the only thing you have is a desktop computer and do not keep on all the time; you might get a little tired of turning the computer on just to charge the batteries. How about if you go out of town and don't have a usb charging device well it speaks for itself. So, is it worth having or not?

Honestly? Rechargeable batteries aren't that expensive and neither is the charger. The good thing about these is that you don't need to remember to take the charger with you. If you're already lugging your laptop around with you, you can at least forget one other gadget at home...
