AMC i-T15 is Wet and WiFi-ed

May 22nd, 2008 by Mark R in Audio/Video Gadgets

It appears that a water resistant feature, such as the one found on the Ubanana Ucan MP3 player, are going to be the new standard for all Portable Media Players (PMPs). I think AMC is definitely trying to surf the wave of the future with the i-T15, a water-resistant WiFi Wireless TV.

The i-T15 is apparently water resistant enough for a strong jet of water. I found this description odd, because normally water-resistance is given in a measurement of depth. Like “up to three meters” for example.

Yet the water resistant feature isn’t the i-T15’s biggest selling point. Even without adding water, the i-T15 has video on demand and broadcasting features with a 15 inch screen. It has a resolution of 1200 x 800 Pixels, and a contrast ratio of 600:1.

It also has wireless 802.11a WiFi configuration, and it supports multiple audio and video inputs. Also available is an ATSC/NTSC/PAL tuner, a DVBT/SECAM/PAL, as well as an IR blaster.

As for power, there is approximately 2.5 hours of nonstop viewing on a single Lithium Polymer battery. The TV and included remote are water and dust resistant.

Right now, the AMC i-T15 is not available yet, but it should be in a few months. Unfortunately, there is no word on a price.
