Are those things really big enough to sit on? I walk by them in New York every day and they seem pretty small for a chair.

Those traffic signs are dated and no longer used in NYC. They've been replaced with the "little white man" and "Big red hand" signs. So I don't think the acquisition of these signs would require paying a fine anymore. I do however think that the City of New York probably charged the guy an arm and a leg for them.

I was thinking exactly the same thing Steven and Jen about the cost to cover the fine for half inching it and the amount of time to grab it.

The cost is probably reflective of the fine the person gets when they acquire their raw materials from the streets.

Does anyone know why they don't use the apostrophe? It's bad grammar, after all. How can kids be expected to know how to spell when the street light aren't correct?

As for the actual product... the target is probably excentric millionaires. I'm neither, so to my Regular Jane eyes it's just an overprieced ugly chair.
