Belkin n52te Gaming Mouse

Who would have ever thought that there would ever be such a huge market for gaming controllers like these? I guess no one ever thought World of Warcraft would ever take off the way it did. I never did like the controls on those MMORPG games, and it’s only natural someone made them simpler.

For example, Belkin, a company famous for tech accessories, has created the n52te, a “hybrid gamepad” with tagline of “Built for speed. Built to Dominate. Built to Destroy”. Dang! It sounds like the n52te is designed for MMORPGs, but it is also created for FPS or RTS games.

The n52te has 15 fully programmable keys that are completely customizable, so a gamer can do very quick things at the touch of a button. There is also a programmable 8-way thumb-pad with a removable joystick. The user can also easily toggle between 3 keymap states.

In short, this lets a gamer really get into the game. It appears that ergonomics were also in mind in this design. There is an adjustable soft-touch wrist pad for comfort, and nonslip rubber pads to grip in place.

All that, and it has that way cool cobalt blue backlighting, so you can play in the dark. Right now, I don’t have a release date for this product, but the price is about $69.99.

So… how does this improve on its older N52? Other than the nice blue backlight I don’t see any difference. Are the keys softer? Lighter to the touch? How is the navigational thumb button? Mine squeeks now (I can’t figure out how to silence it anymore; good thing I wear a headset).

The n52te isn’t a gaming mouse, it’s a left handed gaming keyboard. It’s an upgrade of the n52 speedpad made in conjunction with Razer (only difference between the te and the original speedpad is the blue backlight). It’s currently available at most US retail electronics locations.

Teni:
We gathered feedback from n52 owners, kept the core benefits of the n52, while adding a few improvements:
- Onboard memory (powered by Razer) that let’s you take the n52te with you to tournaments, while keeping your own custom settings.
- Improved tactile feedback and faster input response time for quick button presses.
- Improved Directional-Pad(d-pad) now comes with removable joystick allowing your thumb to pivot more easily.
- Customizations that are portable and easily shareable amongst friends.
- Anti-slip feet to offer increased grip on common desktop surfaces.

Hope that answers your question!
