Nokia N95 8GB finally arrives Stateside
by Edwin in Audio/Video Gadgets, Mobile Phones
Poor Americans! They have finally received the Nokia N95 8GB model while the rest of the world have long enjoyed the uber-capable smartphone’s release for quite some time now already. This means those living Stateside can finally rock on with this handset that features a wide range of portable entertainment functions and high-speed HSDPA connectivity on 850/1900 MHz networks in the Americas. Each purchase will come with half a dozen months’ worth of free navigation service which comes included with Nokia Maps.
According to Bill Plummer, vice president, Nokia Americas, “We’re excited to now offer this all-in-one powerhouse of a multimedia computer in the United States. With the added ultra-fast connectivity of HSDPA, the Nokia N95 8GB delivers on the promise of a multimedia computer in one sleek and compact package.”
What can you expect from the Nokia N95 8GB model? For starters, it now comes with 8GB (duh) of internal memory, giving you more than enough space to store a fair bit of MP3s and other media, and then more. Other features such as a 2.8″ QVGA 16 million color display , Assisted GPS for improved location access, a 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, WiFi connectivity, an innovative two-way slide for easy access to both telephony and multimedia functions and enhanced battery power are retained from the vanilla N95 model that has been around for quite some time already. In addition, owners of this new smartphone in the US will be able to enjoy turn-by-turn directions and voice guidance in Nokia Maps.
The Nokia N95 8GB has been slapped with a $749 price tag, and will be available via Nokia N Series retailers across the US. I don’t think owners of the first generation N95 will have to ditch their handset for this updated model, but those who are looking for a smartphone that seems to do everything would do well to give this a look.
