To those saying this is a ridiculous product - there is a pretty unknown hearing affliction out there called hyperacusis - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperacusis.

Essentially, normal sounds that you probably wouldn't notice resonate extremely loud in their ears, causing a very painful reaction. Hyperacusis can be very crippling - there are many venues I can't go because of the loudness of certain noises (library, restaurants, etc). My work performance is stunted because I can't bear the sound of typing, causing lack of focus, etc.

Anyway, enough of that - not looking to whine, just a bit of understanding when it comes to the merit of such a product.

For me personally I can't wait to try this product at the office.

I have never left a post before, but laughed myself into writing this one. Reference not needing a quiet keyboard, are you kidding.
I am in medical school at 47 yo and the whole reason we cant use keyboards in class is due to the noise. In study groups the noisier keyboards are very annoying, my external keyboard for my laptop clanks away and is complained about so much that I am searching for a quiet one. I have desired a silent key stroke for a long time, due to speaking on the phone and not wanting the other party able to hear me type.
I would say ultra quiet keyboards are more than a niche and will grow in popularity and preference as manufacturers raise the bar. Thus how I found this website, because I was searching for a 2nd keyboard that is ULTRA QUIET! So those who wrote the long agonizing rants, who are obviously full of themselves and limited in their vision for consumer consumption preferences, (say that 10 times) find your honey-do list and do something productive and meaningful. Thats all...

If anyone says keyboards can't be loud. You should try sleeping at 5am with your girlfriend who is a Medical Transcriptionist typing away at her computer. It's damn loud.

Just for the record...my co-worker recently told me my typing was too loud, and it was starting to bother her. She said she was having trouble concentrating. I wish I could tell her what I really wanted...but I couldn't...and that's why I'm here.

Actually, I type on a very very noisy keyboard, that clicks and sticks cause of it's age. And I type very very fast and all you can hear is tap tap tap tap. Personally, it does not bother me. But I have family members who hate the noise so much that they ban me from the computer, even if I try to type as gently and slow as possible. Yeah, messed up. I know. It offends me that the "noise" is so bothersome, but appearantly it is to other people. I'm trying to save up for a laptop, but I guess to hold me over, I need one of these.
