New GeForce 8800 GT features DisplayPort technology
Being a gamer I tend to keep my PC up to date with as much new technology as possible. Unfortunately, gaming components tend to get updated much faster than I can seem to ever afford. This is why I still haven’t snagged myself a DX10 card yet, and also why I’m not exactly interested in DisplayPort technology. However, for those of you that have, or are looking to get a monitor that supports this connection, you’ll be happy to see this latest video card from Sparkle Computer.
This card may seem like just an ordinary GeForce 8800 GT to the untrained eye. The informed observer would notice that the card has only one DVI connection, and in place of a second is a DisplayPort connector. While this technology isn’t widely used yet, it has a lot of potential. The bandwidth is capped at 10.8Gb/s which allowed you to transmit up to 3 1080p digital video streams with 7.1 surround-sound audio. With the GeForce 8800 chip, this card would be welcomed by many gamers. No word yet on pricing or availability.
