Smartparts announces 32-inch digital photo frame
I’ve always thought that digital picture frame manufacturers have a really fine line to walk. On one side you want to keep them inexpensive, so you use cheaper parts and limit the number of features. The result is a sub-par product that won’t sell well. On the other side of the line you’ll want to put a nice big screen with a high resolution, and pack it full of features. Then you’ll end up with a really cool product that people can’t afford. I believe the upcoming frame from Smartparts will fall in with the latter.
The SP3200 will no doubt be the largest and most impressive photo frame on the market when it is introduced at CES. The screen will be a gargantuan 32-inch LCD with a resolution of 1366 x 768. I’m curious how many people actually want all of their photos to be that size on their wall. If the sheer size of the frame wasn’t enough to impress you, they’ve managed to pack in a photo printer to boot.
Don’t get me wrong, I think the idea of seeing a picture and being able to print it with the touch of a button is cool and all, but I think it’s a bit over-the-top. At any rate, if you’re looking for a photo frame that’s bigger than many people’s TV, then look no further than the Smartparts SP3200 (not pictured above).
